On the brink of nuclear, chemical and biological war, the world desperately and urgently needs a new direction. For thousands of years mankind has worshipped mythical deities and messiahs. The result has been ongoing bloodshed and atrocity, and it shows no sign of abating. Religionists inform us that "God" is the answer to the world's problems.

If that is the case, how come damn-near every war that's ever been fought has been fought by god-loving and god-fearing people? How come the slave trade flourished for hundreds of years under the auspices of god-loving and god-fearing people? How come the Spanish Inquisition and the witch burnings were conducted by god-loving and god-fearing people? Who were the Crusades fought by if not god-loving and god-fearing people? Who set the bombs in Ireland and slaughtered entire villages in Kosovo if not god-loving and god-fearing people? Why are god-loving and god-fearing Americans engaged in a war with god-loving and god-fearing Muslims?

To say that "God is the answer" is the most ridiculous statement that has ever been made. Anyone with half an active brain cell should be able to see that God is the problem, not the answer.

Let's take a quick look at our own Judeao/Christian heritage. Founded by Abraham, a man who was prepared to murder his own son to curry favour with the diabolical "god", Yahweh (Jehovah). Abraham married his half-sister Sarah, then forced her into prostitution so that he could get rich from her whoring. God rewarded the pimp Abraham with immense wealth.

This was the same "god" who had already drowned millions of people because he was having a bad hair day. Once the waters subsided and mankind had re-established itself, the god of death incinerated the populations of two cities for much the same reason. He claimed he would refrain from doing it if he could find just ten righteous people living therein, but apparently every child and every new-born baby was heavilly into sin, so he burned them to death, sparing just one incestuous father and his two cute little pubescent daughers.

Not yet content with his body count, this abominable deity set wild bears onto children and had them ripped apart, limb from tiny limb. He even forced parents to eat their own children.

Jehovah instructed fathers to stone their daughters to death for losing their virginity before marriage, or even on suspicion of losing their virginity. He instructed fathers to murder their sons for drunkenness or insolence. Jehovah instructed everybody to murder anyone caught working on the sabbath (Saturday.)

This sick and sadistic god is known to Christians as "Merciful Father".

"Merciful Father" sent plagues to torture the people, droughts to drive them insane, locusts to devour crops, and famines to starve families and nations to death. Jehovah "god" did everything within his power to make life on Earth a misery for its inhabitants.

Yet still, there wasn't enough suffering in the world to satisfy the baleful, ghoul-god Jehovah. So he instructed Moses to slaughter every living creature – man, woman, child, baby and animal – in city after city. But there were still some people left alive! So Jehovah commanded Saul, Solomon, David, Joshua, Gideon, and numerous other cut-throats to finish the job.

Eventually though, the Romans conquered the savage Hebrews and sent them packing. But before dispersing far and wide, the Jews had one final act of horror to perform. One of their numbers gave birth to the God of Hell! He was known as Yeshu (Jesus), and thirty years after his birth he hit the messiah trail. A Jewish supremacist, Jesus instructed his disciples to have nothing to do with Gentiles. When a Canaanite woman pleaded with Jesus, begged him to cure her sick daughter, he told her it wasn't right for the Master to waste his powers on "dogs"!

Jesus turned his back on the suffering of slaves, even gloating over their plight. He instructed his followers to mutilate themselves – to gouge out an eye and to sever a hand – for harbouring lustful thoughts. Anyone who didn't worship him he condemned to an eternity spent writhing in hell. Christians see this as a good thing – Jesus died on the cross to save believers, and into the flaming pit with the bulk of mankind.

"The God of hell should be held in loathing, contempt and scorn. A God who threatens eternal pain should be hated, not loved; cursed, not worshipped. A heaven presided over by such a God must be below the meanest hell." Robert G. Ingersoll (1833 -1889)

Clearly Jehovah is not the force that created the universe. A more disgusting, brutal, and ignorant deity has never been manufactured. Clearly Jesus is not a "Christ" or a saviour because a saviour would save all of mankind, not just gullible Jews and mumblebrain Christians.

Jews and Christians have been cruelly misled. For thousands of years Jews have been worshipping the god of hate, misery and death. Christians – Gentiles all – have been worshiping the god of hell, a charlatan who, were he alive today, would despise them and condemn them to an eternity spent writhing in flames.

Please don't take my word for any of this, it's all in the Bible. Fortunately for the Church, Christians find the so-called "Word of God" boring, so they refuse to read it. The Church can then pick out the one or two good bits – such as the forged and interpolated "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" – and convince simpletons that the Bible is a good book. But in the words of the magnificent Thomas Paine –

"People in general know not what wickedness there is in this pretended word of God. Brought up in habits of superstition, they take it for granted that the Bible is true, and that it is good; they permit themselves not to doubt of it, and they carry the ideas they form of the benevolence of the Almighty to the book which they have been taught to believe was written by his authority. Good heavens! it is quite another thing, it is a book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy; for what can be greater blasphemy, than to ascribe the wickedness of man to the orders of the Almighty!" Thomas Paine (1737-1809) 'The Age Of Reason'

So where do we go from here if the world's oldest religions are beyond their use-by date? Clearly we need a direction that is appropriate for the 21st century.
